Last year’s Ernst & Young World Takaful Report, which was launched at the World Takaful Conference 2011 in Dubai, noted that the Family Takaful segment in Malaysia is reaching an increasingly more significant level of market penetration and is estimated to contribute 77% of the net Takaful contributions in 2010.

For more than 2 decades, the Malaysian Takaful industry has witnessed tremendous growth and strong performance. The fact that despite the tough global economic conditions and uncertainties in the international financial markets, the increasing number of applications received by the regulatory authorities, which subsequently led to an issuance of 4 new Family Takaful licenses instead of the 2 as originally planned for 2011, indicates the growing confidence of leading market players in the growth prospects of the Takaful industry, particularly the Family Takaful segment in Malaysia.


With the Family Takaful segment dominating the Malaysian Takaful market, the strong growth momentum is expected to continue, underpinned by the rising affluence of Malaysia amidst strong economic fundamentals.
